In the past few years, lead retrieval services have become an integral part of many trade shows. Exhibitors have been asking for these services to help ease the data collection process needed to effectively manage their leads. Many show organizers provide lead retrieval systems to their exhibitors. After all, exhibitors want an easy way to capture attendee lead information and the show organizer is in the unique position of having this information. Sadly, many show organizers select a lead retrieval system that is economical, which translates to hard to use, poor quality equipment. Often, the lead retrieval company does not even come onsite to the event, instead they ship the equipment to the show and force the show organizer to deal with one more detail of their event. So, what is a show organizer to do?
First, forget about lead retrieval and everything you know about it. The industry is full of re-renters, who simply rent equipment at one price, re-rent it to your exhibitors at a higher price and then pocket the difference. These companies have no interest in providing a high quality service—they simply want to rent as many systems as possible to lower their costs. Many of these companies do not send staff onsite and most use hard to use, desktop-based card swiping systems. Most of our competitors use junk—plain and simple.
